Brian O’Riordan

Detective Lieutenant Brian O’Riordan served 25-years with the Massachusetts State Police. With deep experience in the event security and executive protection. Beginning his career as a trooper in 1993, Brian steadily rose up through the MSP ranks, working on an executive protection detail at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 and with the Middlesex County District Attorney, the Massachusetts Attorney General, and in many other  roles before joining the Governor’s Executive Protection Unit in 2010. In this capacity, Brian supervised domestic and international protection details for the governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general of Massachusetts, along with visiting dignitaries. From 2015 until his retirement in 2018, Brian served as the Chief of Staff to the MSP superintendent, advising MSP Senior Command Staff regarding interagency collaborations, understanding of political environments, and complex project management with other agencies and overseeing MSP Media Relations Section.

Brian holds leadership and executive protection certificates from the Kennedy School, IACP, and NYPD. He was also recognized in 2003 by the Massachusetts Attorney General with an Award for Excellence in 2003. He is a 1996 graduate of Western New England University, with a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and holds a masters degree in criminal justice from the same university.”
